The boot Düsseldorf , one of the world’s premier boat shows, has for the second year running, been cancelled for 2022.. The show, normally held every year in January, has been forced to cancel due to rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus and subsequent new regulations announced by the German government. In force as of today, the new regulations state large public fairs with more than 750 visitors at the same time are prohibited until the end of January.
The show build-up began early December with boats enroute to the show for the past several weeks, with some already positioned into exhibition halls. Popular show features such as the surf wave pool and diving tower had also been constructed.
“We cancel the trade fair with a heavy heart,” said Messe Düsseldorf President & CEO Wolfram Diener in a statement to German newspaper, Rheinische Post. “We bow to health protection and see it as a civic duty.”
Boot Düsseldorf attracts around 250,000 visitors every year along with a wide range of international attendees and exhibitors making it the most visited boat show in the world.
